So Im going to Jamaica to shoot a friend of mine’s wedding at the end of the month (January) and I know that ill be carrying a lot of equipment with me (2-3 camera bodies, lenses, Macbook Pro, flashes, etc.) and I was trying to think how I can somehow lighten my load. I have currently a Manfrotto tripod which I love but it is quite heavy especially with the head attached. My problem though is that I wanted something lighter and I really didnt want to spend much on it. Now I could go out and buy a really cheap tripod but the problem with them is that you really lose so much of your stability that its almost pointless having the tripod to start with. And again if you go to a low end Manfrotto then the tripod usually has a fair bit of weight to it and thats what i didnt want.
I wanted a Carbon Fiber Tripod, but didn’t want the price tag that went along with the brands that sold that style. So anyways I was on Costco.com’s website and they had this Dolica Carbon Fiber tripod on sale. Regularly $99 (which was a great price to start) but on sale for $79. So I started looking for reviews … Not a whole lot out there. But for $79 Im willing to take a chance. Plus the MSRP for it is $199.
Needless to say I will be ordering this tripod tomorrow morning and will write a review of it once it has arrived.
Now I live in Canada so for those of you that also live in Canada, getting this tripod is not that easy. I luckily have a relative that lives in the states, so they are picking it up for me.
If any of you have used this tripod please leave a comment or send me an email.
